September 2017 – British Dressage National Championships

The beautiful Boheme was spoilt ahead of the Nationals, new dancing shoes courtesy of our phenomenal farrier Brendan Murray and a beautiful clip from Hannah Johnstone ahead of our trip to the Nationals this week. However, I must admit to being slightly peeved at being first in, in the Grand Prix for the second year in a row!

So my lovely ginger giants summer season came to an end with four fab days at the National Championships. It’s been a bit of an up and down season for Bo, with some real highs and great performances but we had struggled on and off with power or energy issues. We only really got to the bottom of them a couple of weeks before the Nationals and so we went with the view that he was still re-strengthening and gaining his competition fitness. He was a total star, feeling stronger every day and behaving like a real pro. Sadly I think the champs were maybe two weeks too early for us to be back at our peak and a raft of ring rusty mistakes in the test really kept our mark down but I could not be more pleased with how he improved each day and am so impressed with how he took the whole show. Today in his inimitable fashion he oversaw a wonderful photo shoot for @horseandhound, checking everything was ‘just so’!! I cannot wait for the next few weeks as he returns to full strength and fitness, so excited. #superginge #nevergiveup#grandprix #supermodel
