Myerscough Premier League 2017

So big Bo is back home and loving his grass after our fairly mammoth journey to Myerscough Premier League (6hours there, 5 hours back). Started really well, put in a lovely small block of permanent stables (normally temporary and under three inches of water this time of year), we were very smug until we went down on Saturday to find all the other horses had left and he had lost the will to live. White with sweat from head to toe, box walking and completely neurotic. Stayed with him for four hours before nursing him through his music class which bless him he finished second in despite a below par performance. Seemed to settle over night with some new friends having moved in but hardly ate anything and threatened to start all over again when one of his new stablemates went off for their test so we stayed with him again but by the time he got into his Grand Prix test he’d completely burnt himself out and had absolutely nothing left (no surprise as all he’d really eaten were some carrots) so a raft of mistakes dropped us down to seventh. Felt awful for him as he’s never been bothered like that before, has been training phenomenally well at home the last few weeks and gave me everything he had left in the test. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and maybe we should’ve stepped out of yesterday’s test but it was always intended as a run ahead of Keysoe CDI next week. Ginge is made of strong stuff though so a few easy days and then a training session at Emiles and we should be back on form. #gottaloveaginge #dressagediva #mrnewlyinsecure
