A late call up to attend Hartpury Premier League saw us rushing up to Gloucester, having been placed on a wait list, to allow us one final run in a Grand Prix at the final Premier League show of the 2015 calendar. As has been the case this year Bo settled beautifully into the wonderful permanent stables at Hartpury College. Fabulous facilities and a warm welcome are par for the course here, so it is a firm favourite in our list of shows. As we didn’t have a warm up class this time around, we opted to do the early morning arena walk, to acclimatise Bo to the big arena as he hasn’t seen it since this time last year.
We were on mid afternoon in the Grand Prix, a large class, with many international riders using it as a warm up for the CDI over the next few days. Bo warmed up nicely and felt confident in the test arena, but in all honesty felt he lacked just a little of his usual sparkle. Really just a sign of a busy first season at Grand Prix. Bo is growing in strength and security at the level all the time and feels to be performing everything much more technically correctly and as such, does occasionally run a little low on power but we can forgive him for that.
All in all a good test and still picked up 8’s for our trot and canter extensions, just lacked a little oomph in our usually strong piaffe/passage tour and a couple of mistakes. So a 64.22% was understandable and we very much hope to get a wild card through to the Nationals for the Inter II or Grand Prix.
