The final Premier League show of 2014 took place at Hartpury College, in glorious sunshine providing not only hot weather but hot performances from many of the countries top Small and Big Tour combinations. With all of the countries top riders taking part in one class or another over the course of the show. We were lucky enough to have Boheme Af Sulsted in the PSG class and Inter I on the first two days.
Excellent facilities greet you on arrival, along with smiling faces, despite the initial downpour that all appear to have recently been subjected to. Vet checks done, we settled Bo into his lovely stable on a small courtyard, only a stones throw from the hand grazing paddock. We opted not to do the arena walk the following morning, as it fell at an awkward time in relation to his test time, so we were over the moon with how he coped with the scale of the show and the competition arenas that greet you. Despite a few mistakes (mainly rider ones) he still managed to score just shy of 69% in a fantastic class of over thirty horses to finish fourth, behind the double world young horse champion Farouche, and the two rising stars Alfons with Spencer Wilton and Don Jovi with Christian Landholt. We could not have been happier to be in such company, with mistakes, and still produce a test worthy of the top four placings.
On day two we gave Bo a quick walk around first thing in the morning in the arena walk, as his Inter I test wasn’t until 130 in the afternoon. He was impeccably behaved and returned to his stable for breakfast and a snooze before being prepped for his test.
The test went well, with no major blips, or rider errors. He was a little unsettled by a noise just before our bell rang to start so was a bit strong into the contact through the test which was a pity compared to how he had warmed up previously. Which meant we were a little wobbly in our canter zigzag and our canter pirouettes were larger than we had planned. Still good enough for a little shy of 66% and eighth place. Again in a class of over 30 horses he had proven his ability to hold a top ten place, we can’t wait for him to make his debut at Inter II/Grand Prix for next season.
So, with automatic qualification for the National Championships at Prix St George level, Bo will contest the Summer Regionals at Inter I at the beginning of August along with stablemate Korenbloem Fleur De Lis in the regional Prix St Championship.
