Our last two shows for the year for the Grand Prix circuit were the two High Profile shows, held at Vale View and Bury Farm Equestrian Centres. We were entered to contest both the Inter II and Grand Prix classes at both shows.
Vale View High Profile show was first, Boheme Af Sulsted was on flying form, sadly I was a little under the weather and with the Grand Prix on the first day I’m afraid I was a bit more of a ‘passenger’ than a ‘pilot’. That being said he scored a creditable 65.93% for eighth place. A little more pilot like on day two, I promised to be more helpful to my mount, despite being attacked by a suicidal pidgeon mid test, we moved onwards and upwards to score 66.58% in the Inter II for third place.
Bury Farm High Profile was the last big show for us before the end of the year and we were determined to finish a great season on a high. The Inter II was on the first day and in spite of a challenging ride from a surprisingly tense Bo, he scored in excess of 66% for second place, a great start. Day two, Bo had been given the unenviable task of being first in, in a Grand Prix class of about 20 starters. He was a star. A couple of little errors that were rider mistakes, but generally very mature and very rideable so were delighted to come out with 67.267%, which considering we were first in and still had mistakes was extremely pleasing. We held the lead for a long time and it looked extremely promising, but in a classy field it was tight at the top and we finished in fourth place. A great end to Bo’s first season at Big Tour and one to be really pleased with. The best news being we can now look to take him abroad, to an International Show, having fulfilled the qualification criteria.
